Apply for a Hackney Carriage vehicle licence

The Taxi and private hire handbooks for our councils are ready for viewing in their first stages and are in operation from immediate effect from 12 April 2017. New age restrictions for some vehicles and mandatory training are at the forefront of the changes. Personal copies will be mailed out in due course. A Hackney Carriage vehicle can be hailed on the street and wait on a taxi rank. All new applications for this licence must be for a fully wheelchair accessible vehicle and Forest Heath District Council taxis must be yellow and black. A vehicle licence lasts for one year.

If you want to run a Hackney Carriage vehicle service then you will need a vehicle licence, each driver will also need a Hackney Carriage/Private Hire drivers licence.
