Street lighting

Most street lights are owned and managed by Suffolk County Council. Within the West Suffolk area there are some street lights that are managed by West Suffolk Council, these can be easily recognised as they have the council crest displayed.

To report a problem with street lighting that can be identified as being managed by West Suffolk Council, contact Customer Services with the following information:

  • the number of the lighting unit - this will be a number painted on the light column or plastic board fixed to it
  • the location of the light
  • the type of fault (for example, not working or damaged)

If you cannot easily identify who the street light is managed by, then contact Suffolk County Council on 0845 6066067 or email: streetlighting@Suffolk.gov.uk, for more information, visit: Suffolk County Council, street lighting

Street lighting on housing developments are usually the responsibility of the developer or housing association, you will need to contact them directly with any concerns.
