Enforcement policy

Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury act as a regulator and an enforcement agency for a large range of legal duties and powers.

The Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006 requires us to publish an Enforcement Policy. The policy outlines our commitment to good enforcement practice and describes when and how our officers take legal action.

A single enforcement policy for West Suffolk Council needs to be created before 1 April 2019. The current Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury enforcement policies were adopted in 2009 and 2010 respectively and will remain in place until this point.

We welcome views on the draft policy, especially from local businesses and residents. For more information and to take part in our survey visit: West Suffolk Enforcement Policy consultation 2018/19
