There is a chance to buy from arts and craft makers who will be demonstrating their skills at a Sunday summer mini market in Bury St Edmunds this weekend.

Shoppers will be able to enjoy a mix of arts and crafts stalls including furniture makers, printmakers, ceramicists, jewellers and textile artists and learn some of the skills involved at this Sunday 28 July from 10am to 4pm on 28 July. There will also be children’s entertainment and a selection of regular market stalls to buy from.

The Summer Special Sunday Mini Market has been organised by West Suffolk Council and the Bury St Edmunds Market Traders working together with community artist Lou Gridley.

Cllr Peter Stevens, West Suffolk Council Cabinet member responsible for the markets said: “We held one of these art and crafts markets in late June and had very good feedback from all who went. We have a wealth of talented artists and craft makers in the local area. This is a chance to see them in action, learn from their skills and of course buy some great gifts and art work.”

Lou Gridley said: “Whether you are fascinated by the methods behind various arts and crafts or are simply looking to shop for some unique items, come along and enjoy this amazing market event.”

West Suffolk Council will soon be launching a free training programme for crafty entrepreneurs looking to start-up a market trading business. Anyone who wants to register their interest should contact art@louisegridley.com
