Adnams has announced it will open the doors to its new Bury St Edmunds store on Wednesday 10 December.

The award-winning brewer, distiller and wine-merchant will return to the town in time for the peak Christmas shopping period, and just three months after closing its previous town-centre shop.
Located within part of the former Post Office building, Adnams’ store has been carefully designed to provide a new, updated and welcoming retail space, and an ideal venue to host daily sampling, tastings and talks.

The store will stock Adnams’ award-winning beers, handcrafted spirits, and a large selection of wines from around the world.

It will be open seven days a week, led by the same experienced team and offers local deliveries and click and collect options, as well as being more conveniently located nearer to the Cattlemarket carpark and arc shopping centre.

Tom Crittenden, Manager of the new Bury St Edmunds shop, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to confirm the date for our opening in the town.
“Many of our customers have been asking about our return and are keen to be able to get some of their Christmas shopping done with us.
“From day one and throughout the month our Tasting Table will also be offering a range of wines, Adnams beers and spirits to try.
The first big tasting event will be on Saturday 13th December, where customers can sample Edmunds Cocktails and Lost Years Rum.”

Tom added: “Our team are really knowledgeable and will be on hand to offer brilliant service, expert recommendations and all in a fun environment.
“We’re pulling wines to the fore in this new shop and will love sharing our recommendations at the new Tasting Table, accompanied by a bit of vinyl music in the background.
“Shopping for drinks to share and gift with friends and family is simply one of the very best bits of shopping you can do!”

He said: “We look forward to welcoming customers from across the region – whether they’re looking for the perfect drink match for their own Christmas meal, or they’re wanting to gift something to a colleague of friend. Our shops are the perfect solution for all your gifting, hosting and celebrating needs at this time of year.”

Cllr Cliff Waterman, Leader of West Suffolk Council said: “This is fantastic news which will benefit the local economy. It shows the confidence of businesses in continuing to invest in the town centre. It further demonstrates the success of the council, and its partners, in our work to ensure the town centre, with its strong mix of retail, leisure and culture, remains an attractive and vibrant place that continues to charm residents and visitors alike. Through all this, it is also delivering toward our ambition for a thriving West Suffolk, and we look forward to the store opening.”

Cllr Indy Wijenayaka, Cabinet Member for Growth at West Suffolk Council, said: “This move is as a direct result of the council’s vision, planning and investment, creating a new retail unit in a prime location for footfall between the arc and the historic town centre. We are absolutely delighted to support Adnams in their growth ambitions. This new store in the heart of Bury St Edmunds town centre is now busy being readied to welcome their first customers next week.”

Cllr Diane Hind, Cabinet Member for Resources at the West Suffolk Council said: “We are pleased to announce Adnams as our tenant. We supported them in starting fit out works early ahead so that they can open ahead of Christmas.  Alongside this, we are progressing towards the signing of a lease for the Cornhill unit which is also under offer. We look forward to being able to confirm more details about our new tenant for the Cornhill unit once a lease has been signed.”
