Mildenhall and A11 Corridor Investment Prospectus
To help support and drive the delivery of the authority’s ambitious strategic priorities, West Suffolk Council agreed to fund commissioning work around the potential economic benefits on the A11 corridor.
The Mildenhall and A11 Corridor Investment Prospectus serves as a strategic framework designed to unlock long-term sustainable economic growth over the next 30 years. It directly supports West Suffolk Council’s Strategic Priorities 2024-2028 by establishing a high level vision and framework of options to deliver sustainable growth, building on the area’s existing strengths and raising the economic profile to make it a more competitive location to attract investment.
The prospectus offers a range of options to shape future proposals to the Mayoral Strategic Authority in 2028, as well as target future regional and national funding opportunities. All options are early stage ideas and would be subject to future community and stakeholder consultation as well as the planning permission process as they develop further.
The prospectus strengthens the area’s regional and national positioning by evidencing how Mildenhall and the A11 Corridor can act as a bridge between the innovation hubs (Cambridge and Norwich) and support high-value clusters, such as advanced manufacturing.
This prospectus will strengthen West Suffolk Council’s position to engage with both the emerging Mayoral Strategic Authority and the new unitary authority to influence strategic decision making and funding allocations to achieve sustainable growth.
