Options for the Haverhill wards

In drawing up new boundaries for Haverhill we have aimed to deliver an acceptable level of electoral equality for voters in council elections so that each councillor represents roughly the same number of voters, within the tolerances suggested by the Boundary Commission. The electorate forecast has determined that, to achieve electoral equality Haverhill should be represented by ten councillors, this would give a forecast ratio of 2,055 (+ or - 10%) electors to each councillor. The options that we have produced also aim to ensure that the new council wards reflect, as far as possible, the interests and identities of communities across West Suffolk and provide for effective local government. Our proposed options for the Haverhill wards are below.

Using the interactive maps

An interactive map is available which shows the proposed boundary for each option (see links below). You are able to zoom in to view individual streets or properties and by clicking on the map, can view which ward the street or property is in for the different options. To switch between options, go to the side panel to the left of the map and find the map category ‘Options for West Suffolk wards’. Expand this by clicking on the ‘+’ sign and you will then be able to select which options you wish to view.

Option G

Two single member wards and four wards with two councillors.

Option H

Two single member wards and four wards with two councillors.

Please visit our Haverhill wards response page to provide feedback on the above options. Please consider the following questions when considering your feedback:

  • Do the proposed wards reflect local communities and offer effective local government?
  • How can the proposals be improved whilst maintaining electoral equality?
  • Are the proposed names of the wards right?
