Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) for alcohol and begging
Public Space Protection Orders are being introduced in some locations within west Suffolk to prevent public nuisance, anti-social behaviour or disorder.
Within the restricted areas, if you refuse to stop drinking alcohol or hand over containers (sealed or unsealed) which are believed to contain alcohol when required to do so by an authorised officer it could result in a Fixed Penalty Notice of £80. If you do not pay the Fixed Penalty Notice then you could be taken to court and fined up to £1000. This will be a legal requirement from 1 October 2017.
