Skills Fair Stall

Calling all local employers and job seekers, Newmarket will be hosting a jobs and skills fair on Tuesday 18 October 2022.

Local people are invited to attend the event to see what opportunities are available in the area. Whether you are looking for employment or training you are welcome to come along and meet employers and training providers face to face.

Local employers and training support providers will be exhibiting, all with vacancies or courses they are keen to fill. A range of positions will be on offer, all based in the local area and designed to match Newmarket jobseekers.

The event is being delivered by West Suffolk Council and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and follows on from the success of a similar fair in Newmarket earlier this year.

Cllr Susan Glossop, Cabinet Member for Growth, West Suffolk Council said:
“After the success of the Jobs and Skills Fair in Newmarket earlier this year, I am pleased to see it return. West Suffolk Council view economic growth as a priority and we support events like this one to enable local people to access the skills they need and help businesses recruit and train their workforce. We are working with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to deliver the event to signpost the skills development and employment opportunities available in the area.”

The Economic Development and Growth team at West Suffolk Council work to promote a range of programmes on offer to local people, these include the Plan for Jobs and The Skills Toolkit. There are also a variety of initiatives local businesses can access, ranging from upskilling their current workforce, to recruitment and funding. The council want to encourage as many businesses as possible to sign up and make use of the support available.

If you are a local business or training provider, there are still stalls available if you are looking to recruit or promote your course. Please contact WESTSUFFOLK.EandP@dwp.gov.uk for more information.

Anyone who is unable to attend on the day can still find out how we can help by contacting skills@westsuffolk.gov.uk.
