Young entrepreneurs from West Suffolk are being invited to join the Young Traders Market as part of the West Suffolk Business Festival.

Taking place on Sunday 8 October in Bury St Edmunds, traders aged 16 to 30 will be showcasing their talent and using the market as a place to establish their businesses and grow a customer base.

Traders will be selling a diverse range of products and produce including home baked treats, locally reared meat, jewellery, soaps, candles, artwork and haberdashery.

We are still welcoming new traders to the market, so please contact our economic development team if you would like more information or to book a pitch: economic.development@westsuffolk.gov.uk

We look forward to welcoming back Jessica Moulsher from Jessica Sian Illustrations who was the overall winner of the Young Trader Competition this year after winning the Arts & Crafts category. Also attending the market after participating in the competition are: Morsi’s, Meadow & Woodland Livestock, Olivia’s Curiosities, Handmade Galore and Tiff’s Tempting Treats.

There will also be buskers performing around the market for shoppers to enjoy.

Returning for the 13th year, West Suffolk Business Festival will be focusing on ‘The Future of Work’ by providing a diverse schedule of events that aims to empower and equip businesses for the future.

Cllr Indy Wijenayaka, Cabinet Member for Growth at West Suffolk Council said: “West Suffolk markets are a vital part of the local economy, so it is fantastic that young traders are using this opportunity to showcase their creativity and skills to grow their business. The event will allow young traders to network and expand their knowledge with other likeminded individuals. I would strongly encourage more people to consider taking part and start discovering the potential that West Suffolk markets have to offer.”

The market is free of charge to participate in, with West Suffolk Council providing gazebos and insurance cover for the day. The arc Shopping Centre are supporting the event by offering the use of Charter Square to host the market.
