WSC Xmas 19 bin leaflet

West Suffolk residents will be receiving a leaflet over the next two weeks telling them when their bins will be emptied over Christmas and the New Year.

The leaflet which will be placed under black bin lids, and this year highlights early collections for those due on Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 December. Collections on Thursday 26 and Friday 27 December will be one day late.

The following week, Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 December collections will be unchanged, while those due on Wednesday 1 Thursday 2 and Friday 3 January will be one day late.

The leaflet is printed on 100% recycled stock and can be recycled in the blue bin when it is no longer needed.

An online postcode look up is a handy way to check week-by-week collection day and bin colour. Over 99% of West Suffolk’s 81,000 households are managing recent changes to blue and black bin collection days well, and council staff will continue to support those with queries during the Christmas period and beyond.

Advice on managing waste and recycling over the festive season is included in the leaflet and on the West Suffolk Council website.

Natural Christmas trees can be cut up and put into garden waste bins, or taken to Household Waste Recycling Centres. St Nicholas Hospice is running a collection scheme. Household Waste Recycling Centres are closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, but are open 9am to 4pm every day except Wednesday. Find your nearest HWRC here.

Customers are being asked to make sure glass does not find its way into blue or black bins, and is recycled at a local bottle bank. You can check your nearest bottle bank here and you can report any full bottle bank on 01842 820 804.
