Thriving West Suffolk

West Suffolk is the seventh largest district in the UK, made up of diverse and caring communities and growing businesses, with a rich historic and cultural heritage. It is a rural district that is beautiful, has a varied landscape and is environmentally important. Independent traders and multi-million-pound companies that are household names make West Suffolk their home recognising the district is the location for business and is on major international trading routes. It is the international home of horseracing and sits in the UK’s economic driver of the Cambridge Sub-region. It has six market towns and strong rural communities with their own unique attractions and challenges as well as civic pride. With award winning country parks and nationally recognised attractions as well as varied leisure and arts venues, it attracts visitors from far and wide.

West Suffolk Council is working hard to deliver initiatives and make sure West Suffolk continues to and has a thriving future.

Working across West Suffolk, we will support the district to thrive by focusing on the delivery of our strategic priorities:

  • affordable, available and decent homes
  • environmental resilience
  • sustainable growth
  • thriving communities

Having a thriving West Suffolk means:

  • enabling more people to find the right home in the right place in West Suffolk, with opportunities to improve their health and wellbeing
  • working to preserve and improve our environment that makes West Suffolk so unique and attractive to live, work and play in
  • working with partners, to help residents gain the education, skills and jobs they need to succeed
  • helping grow a sustainable economy that supports existing and new businesses
  • preserving what we currently have that is good – stunning countryside areas and parks, and communities who support one another
  • innovating delivering high quality essential services
  • listening to local residents, businesses and partners and working to together to deal with challenges and seize opportunities.
