What is accessibility?
Accessibility is not just about making websites work for screen readers, or meeting legal requirements. Making a website, mobile app, document or video, accessible means it can be used by as many people as possible.
We tend to think of permanent disabilities, but in reality we all have different needs at different times.
- permanent - such as being blind, deaf, or having limited mobility
- temporary - like having a broken arm, eye infection
- situational - being somewhere noise, in bright sunlight, holding a baby.
Accessibility is not about making things easier for some people, its about making things possible.
