Street and property naming and numbering
West Suffolk Council have a duty to name streets and are responsible for allocating property numbers and authorising property names. Addresses registered through street naming and numbering will be officially recognised by West Suffolk Council and third parties such as Land Registry, emergency services and utility companies.
It is important that each new address is unique and concise to make sure that:
- emergency services can find a property quickly.
- mail and goods can be delivered efficiently.
- members of the public can easily find a location.
- all council departments can work from an official address database.
You can apply for street naming and numbering once the planning application has been approved and work has commenced on site.
