This consultation is now closed.
It was open from 29 July 2019 to 30 September 2019.
West Suffolk Council is consulting on their updated Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning document (SPD) which replaces the current SPD adopted in 2013. Once adopted, this document will be a material consideration when making planning decisions and will provide advice to developers and registered providers (RPs) on the council's approach to affordable housing provision.
The SPD provides additional guidance on key development plan policies and how they will operate. It will not introduce new policy but supplement existing policies in the adopted Core Strategies of the former Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury areas.
This document will help guide the future delivery of affordable housing in West Suffolk and help address the strategic vision and objectives as set out in the council documents by supporting the creation of a sustainable long-term future for communities within West Suffolk.
It offers advice on the criteria for affordable housing, including the thresholds and percentages applicable, as well as the use fo Section 106 (s106) agreements, which will be used to secure the provision of affordable housing on new developments.
