Great Barton A143 pedestrian crossing move consultation
Audience: Great Barton residents and businesses
This consultation is now closed.
It was open from 15 May 2019 to 19 June 2019.
While we are fortunate to have relatively good air quality in West Suffolk, we are keen to protect the health of our residents and the environment. Following a funding award from DEFRA we are consulting on relocating a pedestrian crossing in Great Barton. Currently the location of the A143 signalised pedestrian crossing intensifies poor air quality on a short stretch of this road, causing noticeable effects such as pollutants collecting on surrounding buildings including the post office. This also presents an opportunity to further increase the safety features of this puffin crossing.
Suffolk County Council (Highways) are working together with West Suffolk Council and have developed three options for the relocation of the crossing. We would like views from Great Barton residents on these options via the online Have your say survey.
There will also be a drop-in session for residents in the Community Meeting Room at the village hall from 2pm to 6pm on Tuesday 11 June. Please contact Julia.Procter@suffolk.gov.uk for more information.
