Energy Advice Survey

West Suffolk Council is launching a free energy advice survey program for residents in West Suffolk.

The initiative is designed to help homeowners, private renters and landlords assess their energy usage and identify ways to reduce costs, while contributing to a more sustainable future.

The Healthy Homes Advisor at West Suffolk Council will be conducting the survey and recommending energy efficient measures and potential energy grants and schemes applicants may be eligible for.

From the advice given during the survey, participants will be able to plan their retrofit journey to make their home more energy efficient whilst reducing energy bills. It can also help tackle climate change by reducing carbon emissions and fuel poverty by lessening the use of heating systems.

Cllr Gerald Kelly, Cabinet Member for Governance and Regulatory, said: “We are committed to helping our community save energy and money while taking steps towards a greener future. With this free energy advice survey, residents will receive personalised recommendations on how to improve energy efficiency, lower utility bills and reduce their carbon footprint. By offering this survey, we hope to encourage residents to take control of their energy usage and observe the small changes that make a significant impact on both household budgets and the environment.”

Cllr Donna Higgins, Cabinet Member for Families and Communities, said: “The Council is very much aware that the cost of living crisis continues to be felt by our residents. We are constantly looking at ways we can support our communities and vulnerable residents to find ways of alleviating the effects of the crisis and reducing bills where possible. The free energy advice survey is just one of these ways, and I urge people to consider taking part as there is vital help available to prepare for the upcoming winter and for years into the future.”

One resident who took part in the survey commented: “Jess, the Healthy Homes Advisor, was very helpful during the survey and came by for a second visit to help me apply for the ECO4 grant, which offers free grants for energy saving measures such as solar panels. I would never have known about the grant if it wasn’t for Jess!”

Residents interested in the free energy advice survey can schedule an appointment by emailing environment@westsuffolk.gov.uk or calling 01284 757 400. Our Healthy Homes Advisor will then be in contact to discuss a date and time for your survey.
