Powering progress with updated electric vehicle charging
23 Mar 2026
Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers in West Suffolk car parks are being transferred to a new network, improving flexibility and overall user experience for drivers.
With the chargers now operating on a FUUSE, drivers may need to download the new FUUSE app to use these chargers. This update also introduces roaming capability, allowing drivers to use roaming apps that provide access to multiple chargers across different networks.
Onsite signage and stickers have been installed on the chargers to clearly indicate which app is required, along with simple instructions for use.
The following car parks are affected by the change:
- Arts Centre, Haverhill
- Corn Exchange, Haverhill
- George Street, Brandon
- James Carter Road, Mildenhall
- Jubilee Walk, Haverhill
- Mildenhall Hub, Mildenhall
- Ram Meadow, Bury St Edmunds
- St Andrews, Bury St Edmunds
Energy supplied to all council owned EV chargers and buildings is from 100 per cent renewable energy sources.
Cllr Gerald Kelly, Cabinet Member for Governance, Regulatory and Environment at West Suffolk Council, said: “EV chargers are part of West Suffolk Council's ongoing commitment to promote sustainable transportation and environmental resilience by offering convenient, accessible charging options for residents and visitors.
“As more drivers make the switch to electric vehicles to reduce their emissions, the council continues to update essential infrastructure, such as the switch to the new charging network. With each charge, EV drivers help decrease the amount of CO₂ released into the atmosphere compared to driving internal combustion engine vehicles, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment.”
Furthermore, West Suffolk Council is working alongside Suffolk County Council to deliver additional on-street and community charge points, as part of the government’s Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund. For more information, visit: Suffolk County Council - Plug in Suffolk
