Have your say on vision for development site

A public consultation has opened on a draft masterplan that will shape how new homes and employment is delivered at a site on the edge of Bury St Edmunds.

The site, north of Rougham Tower Avenue, is allocated for around 500 homes and 20 hectares of employment land in the current West Suffolk Local Plan, adopted last year.

The draft masterplan, by developers Crest Nicholson, sets out their vision for the site in terms of the new homes, employment, infrastructure, community facilities and 
open space, as well as transport and environmental enhancements.  

West Suffolk Council is consulting on the draft masterplan, which, once finalised and adopted by the council, will inform the developer’s planning applications for the site.

Cllr Frank Stennett, Cabinet Member for Planning at West Suffolk Council, said: “This site is already allocated for homes and employment growth in the current West Suffolk Local Plan which was shaped over several stages of consultation and engagement.”

“This draft masterplan, which has been produced by developers, sets out their vision for how these new homes and employment could be delivered.”

“This consultation presents a fantastic opportunity for residents, community groups, businesses and other interested parties to view the documents and to then give their feedback, make suggestions and ultimately help shape the future development of this site.”

The consultation will run for seven weeks to 5pm on Monday 7 September. People can view the draft masterplan and have their say at https://westsuffolk.inconsult.uk/RoughamAirfieldMP/consultationHome.
