Brandon Country Park has seen the installation of a new, fully accessible toilet, with additional baby changing facilities as part of a £65,000 refurbishment from the asset management plan funding.

The new accessible toilet has been installed level with the footpath and adjoining car park. Access to the new toilet includes handrails and an anti-slip finish to provide a much safer route.

Inside, users will find the facility is designed to meet current accessibility standards and includes a fixed baby-changing unit.

The previous toilet space is now being re-utilised as a gender-neutral toilet with an additional baby changing area.

For ease of access, the toilet block is located near to the Copper Beech café, stocked with delicious refreshments and the car park with multiple accessible parking bays.

The council hope this will give people more confidence to visit the park to enjoy all that is has to offer, from miles of nature trails to a historic walled garden, and an adventure play area, there is something for everyone.

Cllr Ian Shipp, Cabinet Member for Leisure at West Suffolk Council said: “The installation of the new accessible toilet and baby-changing facilities will support our resident’s health and wellbeing, by encouraging people to explore the park and embrace the importance of spending time outside in nature.

“It is vital for us as a council to make sure our public spaces within West Suffolk are accessible to help our communities thrive.”

Cllr Victor Lukaniuk, Ward member for Brandon West said: “The addition of this new fully accessible toilet is so beneficial to all visitors and ensures that Brandon Country Park is a safe and accessible place for communities to come together and enjoy everything the park has to offer.”

Brandon Country Park is open April to September, 10am to 4.30pm, and October to March, 10am to 3.30pm; the toilets are also open during these hours.
