Food product recall or withdrawal
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) provides advice to help food businesses prevent and deal efficiently with food incidents if they occur.
When a food incident occurs the Food Standards Agency takes action to let local authorities and consumers know about problems associated with food.
The Food Standard Agency can issue a:
- product withdrawal information notice, or
- product recall information notice, and, or
- food alert for action which this details actions for local authorities to take.
Food business operators are legally required to inform their local authority and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) if a food incident occurs and there is reason to believe that food is not compliant with food safety requirements.
