New dragon and fresh attractions for DragonFest10
04 Jun 2025

There’s a new dragon and fresh attractions to enjoy as Dragon Fest celebrates its 10th anniversary at West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village on 21 June and 22 June.
Dragon Fest gives children an insight into Anglo-Saxon beliefs and stories, as well as exploring how dragons have become a theme embedded in cultures from around the world.
And families who book in advance of the weekend can save themselves £5 per person.
This year there’s a chance to meet our freshly awoken dragon and take part in a quest to uncover its name. Brave children will also meet some friendly dinosaurs and discover the story of Beowulf through an enchanting outside theatre production.
Want to learn how to train your dragon. Our handler will be keeping careful watch as fest favourites, our pet dragons Brym and Snarl Junior make their return.
And there’s be the opportunity to have a go at archery, axe throwing and learn circus skills and food and drink will be available.
Alongside all of activities, this year there will be a chance to see the newly completed Iron Age roundhouse. The experimental house was funded by the National Lottery as part of the Brecks, Fen Edge and Rivers Landscape Partnership. The Roundhouse has taken two years to build with volunteers from schools, businesses and the public, using Iron Age techniques and materials in the construction. It follows the discovery of the remains of three Iron Age roundhouses at West Stow, dating back over 2,000 years.
Cllr Ian Shipp, Cabinet Member for Leisure said: “We are delighted to be celebrating the 10th year of Dragon Fest. Tickets are still on sale and if you book now ahead of the Dragon Fest weekend you can save £5 per person.
“We have some wonderful new attractions including our huge monstrous new dragon. It’s a great day out for families from across West Suffolk and visitors to come along and enjoy.”
Tickets are available on the West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village website.
