Have your say on Community Governance arrangements in West Suffolk
25 Mar 2026
Residents are being asked to have their say on proposed changes to arrangements for some of West Suffolk’s parish councils.
In December 2025, West Suffolk Council invited parish and town councils, as well as other stakeholders with an interest in community governance, to put forward any anomalies or opportunities that could be addressed as part of a Community Governance Review process.
The views from that consultation have been used to draw up new proposals and residents are being asked to have their say on these community-created suggestions. The consultation runs until the end of June 2026 and the recommendations can be viewed at: Community Governance Review 2025-2026
The proposed changes will affect the arrangements in the parishes of Fakenham Magna, Fornham All Saints, Fornham St Martin, Fornham St Genevieve, Freckenham, Honington and Sapiston.
Cllr Diane Hind, Portfolio Holder for Resources at West Suffolk Council, said: “We want to thank everyone who took part in the earlier consultation. Their views have had a direct bearing on the draft proposals being put forward. The proposed changes could help improve and ensure that local governance arrangements continue to be reflective of the identity and interest of local communities.
“The consultation runs to the end of June and we look forward to receiving comments from residents, parish and town councils and other stakeholders with an interest in community governance.”
