New and existing graves
You cannot buy new full burial graves at this cemetery, but burials can still take place in family graves that have been purchased in the past, subject to the original terms on the deed and the permission of the deed holder. Contact us to arrange this.
If you have a family grave, we can also arrange for the interment of cremated remains into the grave, again with the permission of the deed holder.
Please contact us for information on the availability of new plots for the purpose of ashes interments only.
Facilities and services
Chapel: there is a traditional chapel with seating for approximately 55 people which can be hired for a funeral service. A small electric organ and hymn books are also available along with a hearing loop.
Memorials and dedications: memorial benches and trees dedicated to a loved one can be purchased on a lease, subject to availability.
Parking: no private vehicles are allowed in the cemetery other than blue badge holders.
Dogs: we ask that dogs are always kept on a lead and bins are used for all dog waste to help keep the cemetery tidy for all who wish to visit.
Grass cutting
We aim to cut the grass on the lawn type grave areas on a fortnightly basis during the grass cutting season - April to October. This frequency is dependent on the weather conditions and the number of burials taking place each day. The clippings arising from cutting operations are not collected. On occasions some unsightliness or nuisance is unavoidable but paths should always be left broadly clear of cuttings so as not to compromise their safe use.
Within each cemetery there are clearly defined areas which are cut less frequently for conservation reasons to enhance biodiversity. These areas include the conservation area within Bury St Edmunds Cemetery and the green burial areas in Haverhill Cemetery.
