Shopmobility

You can hire a manual or electric wheelchair or scooter if you have any mobility problems. You do not have to be registered as disabled to use the scheme.

Shopmobility in Bury St Edmunds

In Bury St Edmunds the scheme operates from The Apex and the Library.

Membership

There is a charge for using Shopmobility in Bury St Edmunds. You can buy membership for a year or you can pay as you go:

  • annual membership is £5 plus an additional £1.50 fee each time you use Shopmobility
  • pay as you go is £3.50 each time you use the service.

To use the service you will need to register once. You will need two pieces of identification, one of them must have your address on it. If you are using the service but are not registered as disabled then you will pay VAT on top of these charges.

When can I use equipment?

Bury St Edmunds: Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.

The service is not available on bank holidays.

Shopmobility in Haverhill

In Haverhill the scheme operates from St Nicholas Hospice Haverhill Hub, next to the Library on Camps Road CB9 8HB, and is managed by St Nicholas Hospice. Access via Camps Road is pedestrian only or parking is available in Lower Down Slade carpark CB9 9DZ and is a short walk to the Hub.

You can book in advance by calling St Nicolas Hospice Hub Haverhill on 01440 848260 or you can see what is available on the day. You will need to bring a form of identification with you so you can register.

The service is free of charge.

When can I use equipment?

Monday to Friday 10am to 3.30pm.

The service is not available on bank holidays or Christmas Eve.

Shopmobility in Newmarket

The service is free in Newmarket and operates from Newmarket library at the Guineas shopping centre.

Booking

You will need to bring a form of identification with you so you can register. You can book in advance by calling Newmarket Library on 01638 661216 or you can see what is available on the day.

The service is not available on bank holidays.
