Shopmobility

You can hire a manual or electric wheelchair or scooter if you have any mobility problems. You do not have to be registered as disabled to use the scheme.

Shopmobility in Bury St Edmunds

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 the Shopmobility service in Bury St Edmunds will be closed from the 5 November 2020 until further notice.

 

This decision has not been made lightly, however, this is to protect the welfare of both our staff and customers in this current climate.

 

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

In Bury St Edmunds the scheme operates from The Apex.

The service will no longer operate from Bury St Edmunds library until at such a time they are able to do so safely.

To use the service, you will need to register. You will need two pieces of identification, one of them must have your address on it. If you are using the service but are not registered as disabled, then you will pay VAT.

The service is not available on Sundays or bank holidays.

Membership

There is a charge for using Shopmobility in Bury St Edmunds. You can buy membership for a year or or scooters and wheelchairs can be hired out on a casual basis.

Booking

Bookings will be made to start at 15-minute intervals, so that we can stagger customer arrival and departure times to ensure social distancing.

If you do not make an advance booking, we will ask you to return at the next available time slot or on another day.

It is essential customers return within the time agreed so we can prepare equipment for the next customer.

All visitors must wear a face covering when inside The Apex, unless they are aged 11 years or under, or are exempt from wearing a face covering.

To comply with government legislation regarding NHS Test and Trace, visitors must scan our NHS QR code or provide a contact telephone number upon entry to the building, please download the NHS COVID-19 app before your visit.

Bury St Edmunds: Monday to Saturday 10.30am to 3.30pm

The service is not available on Sundays or bank holidays.

Shopmobility in Haverhill

In Haverhill the scheme operates from St Nicholas Hospice Haverhill Hub, next to the Library on Camps Road CB9 8HB, and is managed by St Nicholas Hospice. Access via Camps Road is pedestrian only or parking is available in Lower Down Slade car park CB9 9DZ and is a short walk to the Hub.

You can book in advance by calling St Nicolas Hospice Haverhill Hub on 01440 712992 or you can see what is available on the day. You will need to bring a form of identification with you so you can register.

The service is free of charge.

When can I use equipment?

Tuesday to Friday 10am to 3pm.

The service is not available on bank holidays or Christmas Eve.

Shopmobility in Newmarket

The service is free in Newmarket and operates from Newmarket library at the Guineas shopping centre.

The service is not available on bank holidays.
