West Suffolk Council planning policy consultations

Due to an upgraded planning policy consultation system and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation we are no longer able to directly consult with you unless you have ‘opted in’ to planning topic(s).

You can update your details by logging in to your account at https://westsuffolk.oc2.uk/login  and selecting the topic(s) you wish to be notified on. If you have forgotten your login details please contact us on 01284 757368 or planning.policy@westsuffolk.gov.uk for assistance.

Local plans

The adopted and emerging Local Plans covering the former St Edmundsbury and Forest Heath areas (and all related policy documents, including guidance and SPD’s) will continue to apply to those parts of the West Suffolk Council area until a new Local Plan for West Suffolk is adopted.

This is currently scheduled for mid-2023.

Supporting information

We have produced a number of documents which are not part of the local plan but which support, explain and monitor the local plan and how it was prepared. These supporting documents are:

Local development scheme (LDS): this explains what planning policy documents the council intends to produce and the timescale for their preparation. The LDS includes key milestones that inform you about opportunities to get involved with the plan making process and to let you know the likely dates for this involvement.

Statement of community involvement (SCI): this sets out how we will consult with you on proposed planning policy document and planning applications.

Authority monitoring report (formerly annual monitoring report) (AMR): reviews the progress of the implementation of the Local Plan:

Previous reports can be supplied on request. Please contact us on 01284 757368 or planning.policy@westsuffolk.gov.uk.

Housing land supply reports: this report is a five year land supply  of specific deliverable sites sufficient to provide five years worth of housing against the housing requirement.

West Suffolk Housing Delivery Study: this report reviews past and current rates of housing delivery and determinants of demand and makes recommendations how to accelerate housing delivery in West Suffolk.
