Vehicle access to green spaces

You need permission from our Parks and Green Spaces service before commercial vehicles can access West Suffolk Council owned green spaces in order to work on private properties.

Your chosen contractor must complete the online Permission for vehicle access onto green spaces owned by West Suffolk Council application. This online form can only be used for one, not multiple, applications.

Please allow 10 working days for your application to be processed.

We may need more information, depending on individual circumstances.

Terms and conditions

  • I will make good any damage that may arise from driving across the open space such as wheel marks or marks from other equipment such as diggers and skips.
  • I will use existing tarmac paths where possible to minimize damage.
  • I will check for all overhead and underground services that may be in the area being worked in or accessed.
  • I confirm that any council gates will always be locked, and any access codes given will not be shared with anyone else.
  • I confirm that no highly flammable materials or liquids will be stored overnight.
  • All excavating will be within the land owned by the resident and not on West Suffolk Council owned land.
  • All vehicles will drive no more than five miles per hour on the open space.

Additional information for the application

  • If there are any skips being left on West Suffolk Council owned open space, you confirm the skips are to be contained within a made up Heras fence compound.
  • If there are large lorries (larger than a flatbed transit type vehicle) entering the site, you confirm that a banksman will be on site.

Failure to give the correct information in the application, or failure to comply with what has been set out in the agreement, can result in access being withdrawn. This will have an impact on future applications.
