Renewable energy
Our Environment team offers advice and support on energy efficiency and renewable energy to the public, businesses and other groups. We welcome any approaches from parish and town councils wishing to work with us in support of our energy efficiency agenda. Contact us for more information.
The Suffolk Community Advisor Service is also able to provide support to parish and town councils on a range of issues. These include
- advice on energy generation or saving measures for village halls
- technical support for accessing funding or
- to support communities banding together to negotiate a better deal with gas and energy suppliers.
For further information visit Green Suffolk or call them on 08000 288938.
The Suffolk Climate Change Partnership supports community scale renewable energy schemes, by supporting groups making applications to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Department of Energy and Climate Changes' Rural Community Energy Fund. The fund provides £20,000 to help communities conduct feasibility studies into what renewable energy sources are suitable for their area. For further information visit Wrap.org.uk, rural community energy fund or call them on 08081 002040.

Oil spills
Oil spills have serious consequences. The Environment team offers an advice service to parish and town councils and their communities on prevention and steps to take when reacting to an oil spill.
