Please note: accessibility guidance for parish councils drafting a neighbourhood plan
In 2018 the UK passed legislation which stated that all public sector websites and mobile applications needed to be made accessible, this includes all documents published on those websites.
The National Association of Local Councils has published the Website accessibility and publishing guidelines to assist parish councils in making websites and documents on their websites accessible.
Lots of other useful information can be found on:
- GOV.UK - Understanding accessibility requirements for public sector bodies
- GOV.UK - Publishing accessible documents
- W3C - Introduction to Web Accessibility
West Suffolk Council has also produced guidance to assist you when producing accessible documents for publication on its website, such as the neighbourhood plan and supporting documents.
Should you require any advice on the accessibility of your documents please contact us on neighbourhood.planning@westsuffolk.gov.uk for further assistance.
