During 2015 and 2016, St Edmundsbury Borough Council looked at changes to boundaries and other electoral matters which will make local democracy better. This was called a Community Governance Review (CGR) and it looked at parish electoral arrangements.
The council has now completed the CGR. You can view the decision notices and see the St Edmundsbury (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2016 which was made in relation to changes to be introduced in 2017 and the St Edmundsbury (Reorganisation of Community Governance) Order 2018 which was made in relation to changes to be introduced in 2018.
The Local Government Boundary Commission for England have agreed to make related alterations to existing county boundaries and these will also come into effect on 1 April 2017. The order will be published here as soon as it has been made.
Changes to other electoral arrangements such as parish wards or number of parish councillors will be the subject of a later Order in 2018. Related alterations to existing borough boundaries will be made on 1 April 2019, immediately prior to the scheduled elections in May that year.
